Jinhae Cherry Blossom Festival
The Jinhae Cherry Blossom Festival originated in 1952 as a memorial ceremony for Admiral Yi Sun-sin, evolving into a spring festival since 1963 that honors his spirit and promotes local culture amidst beautiful cherry blossoms. Held annually from late March to early April (March 27 to April 5, 2026) across Jinhae-gu, Changwon-si, this national-scale festival attracts over 2 million domestic and international visitors with its spectacular display of 360,000 cherry trees in full bloom. Key events include memorial ceremonies for Admiral Yi Sun-sin, the World Military Band & Honor Guard Festival, a traditional market, and public access to the Naval Academy and Jinhae Naval Base Command. Visitors can also explore famous cherry blossom spots like Yeojwacheon Stream, Gyeonghwa Station, and Jehwangsan Mountain Monorail, alongside historical modern buildings.
